It never fails. My husband steps on a plane for a work trip and something fails at home.
Electronics, appliances, cars, you name it, something
decides to blow.
This time, the oil light came on in the car and my son
has conveniently decided to come down with something. It started with a low grade fever and cough
and congestion. I kept him home and took
him to the doctor for the dreaded F test.
As in FLU test.
I’m holding down the fort, trying to keep any germs
from spreading to myself or my daughter.
Sanitizing EVERY
surface. She and I both had our flu
shots this season. My son did not. He usually rebuffs any mention of a shot and
so this year it slipped. My daughter has
asthma and her lung doctor really pushed for her to get it. So we did.
My son balked and didn’t want it and I let him
pass.
Now I wish I hadn’t.
I can’t get him the shot while he’s sick and if he’s
already got it, it is past help. Good
job, mom!!
Lesson learned for next season.
My hubs never gets the flu shot so he is on his own in
that department. You know how men are
with doctors, they have to be on their death bed to go.
Even though several of his co workers have come down
with the flu!!
So, we’re watching episode upon episode of Spongebob
Squarepants, playing Minecraft,
reading, and generally staying put. I
got the oil topped off in the car and will let hubs schedule the regular
service that it probably needs soon.
This week can’t
go by fast enough!!!
Luckily there’s no snow in our forecast!

I feel for you. Joe has been at the firehouse for every flu, trip to the ER, and broken washer/dryer (dryer repairman just left 20 minutes ago as a matter of fact...Joe not home). I can't make this up. Look for my post in a few days about taking 3 kids to the laundromat. Good times. Hang in there!! I'm with you(in spirit if not in person).
I'm lifting my glass up to all the single moms out there who have to deal with all the ups and downs of life without a partner to help out. Here's to hoping they have good peeps to help them out in a pinch when they need it!! Will def. be by to read your post, Marianne!
I am SO in the same boat as you. Baby and I got shots, hubby didn't. Baby actually got a mild version of the flu - and now the hubs is flat out in bed with a raging case of it. Silver lining: he swears he will never go without a flu shot again after seeing how much worse his symptoms were without it!
Hope he feels better soon, Cortney! We are all getting the shot next year, hubs can decide for himself.
The one yer I failed to get my flu vaccine I came down with a nasty chest infection. Never again. And yes, men are stubborn as hell wheat comes to visiting doctors.
